What we hold about your child

Only two things identify them, and you choose both:

There is no date of birth, no address, no photograph, no school and no surname. Those fields do not exist in the app, so there is nothing to leave blank.

Alongside that we keep what the app needs to actually teach:

What we hold about you

Why we hold it

To run the app you asked us to run: to sign you in, to keep your child's practice going from one session to the next, and to show you how they are getting on. That is the only reason any of it exists.

Your child's answers shape their own practice — which topics come up, and when a question returns. That is the whole of it. Nothing is compared against other children, and no decision with any real consequence is made automatically about anyone.

What we never do

Cookies, and what your browser stores

One cookie, and it is the one that keeps you signed in. It lasts up to 60 days so you are not asked to sign in every visit. There is no advertising cookie and nothing to consent to, which is why you have never seen a cookie banner here.

Your text size and letter style are remembered inside your browser and are never sent to us — which is why they are per-device, and why changing them on a tablet does not change them on a laptop.

Who else touches the data

Three suppliers, each doing one job on our instructions and nothing of their own:

How long we keep it

For as long as you keep the account. We do not delete on a timer, because a child's practice history is the thing that makes the app work — a year of answers is what stops it re-asking what they already know.

When you delete a child, everything of theirs goes with it: answers, review queue, paper sittings and badges. That is immediate, and it is not recoverable.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop using it — for yourself and on your child's behalf. Email privacy@northwestdata.io and we will act within one month.

Deleting a child from the Account page does the deletion immediately; you do not need to ask us first.

If you think we have handled something badly, please tell us — but you are also entitled to complain directly to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
